How to Style the Perfect Hot Chocolate Bar Cart

I’ve always wanted to get a bar cart, but always found a reason not to. I don’t drink, so really what would be the point? But they are just so beautiful, and look so great next to a dining table while entertaining. Well, it’s no secret in my family that I LOVE hot chocolate in the winter. In my opinion, there are few better things than sitting down to a warm fire and cozying up with a warm cup of hot cocoa. This is all sounding very cliche, but it is true. So, I found myself an excuse to finally buy one. Plus, we are hosting a few parties this season, so I figured having something like this would make our lives a little easier. With that said, I am sharing 5 tips on how to style the perfect Hot Chocolate Bar Cart!

  1. Choose the perfect Bar Cart– I personally love this particular bar cart, but it might not work for your space. Measure things out, think of what decor and or colors would look best for the space you want it for. Then, choose your cart from there. There are so many adorable options out there, and all for a fairly affordable price. Here are a few of my favorites.

2. Get The Basics- I wanted my bar cart to be full of lots of yummy toppings for a tastey treat. I started with Mini Marshmallows, candy canes, peppermint chocolate stir sticks, etc. I wanted to style them really cute, but also keep things practical. Mason jars are always a great choice for things like this. I found some really cute and festive jars at Homegoods, but regular mason jars would work great as well.

3. Trays and Plates– A beautiful cake plate or tier would be a great way to showcase any treats you decide to make while hosting. I added a festive cookie tray to mine, and it was a big hit.

4. Big Items on bottom– The problem with a cart like this, is that there is a big space in the middle. If I were to only add small items to the bottom of the cart, it would look a little silly. So, make sure to add your tallest items to the very bottom. Save a couple for up top, but for the most part; your bottom shelf should be taller items. For instance, I bought a couple drink syrups that would taste delicious with a nice cup of hot cocoa. Salted Caramel, and hazelnut to be exact. YUM!

5. Add Decor- Now the finishing touch. I added holiday decor to give the bar cart some height and dimension. This letter board was the perfect addition to my bar cart. I bought it last minute, and boy am I glad I did.  You can also use decorative Christmas trees, reindeer, or even add a cute little banner to your bar cart. The possibilities are endless.

I hope you all love these tips and tricks for creating the perfect Hot Chocolate Bar Cart. Happy Holidays!

Are you hosting for the holidays this year? I’d love to know your favorite sweet treats!
